Middle School Courses

All students must take a minimum of six courses in order to be considered a full time student in the state of Michigan.  Most students will take four core courses (math, science, ELA, history/social studies) and two electives in order to meet this requirement.

Please select from the grade levels below for more information.

6th Grade Curriculum

6th grade students will take ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies core classes, as well as two electives.

7th Grade Curriculum

7th grade students will take ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies core classes, as well as two electives.

8th Grade Curriculum

8th grade students will take ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies core classes, as well as two electives.

Middle School Electives

Students can select an Optional Learning Experience through an approved Community Partner to accompany their two online elective courses, or they can opt to only complete the online elective courses.

*Students who qualify may enroll in High School World Languages.

On-Campus Electives
Band, Choir, and Orchestra are available onsite at Jenison Junior High.

Community Partnerships
Students may participate in optional learning experiences within an online course through JIA established community partnerships. For more information, students and parents may contact the JIA Assistant Principal to participate in an optional learning experience.
