Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Every student who is enrolled will receive an account in Blackboard via email.  This will be sent to both the student and parent the week prior to July 8. The course is available in Blackboard and consists of four weeks of digital lessons created by JIA teachers. Each Monday, the teacher will post a video announcement in Blackboard providing a learning challenge with instructions.  There are no graded assignments, but students are encouraged to complete the tasks and share.

Will the online teacher be available to students and parents?

Yes. Teachers will have their contact information available throughout the four-week program.

What if my child misses a week?

Students may work at their own pace. A new weekly folder will be available within Blackboard each Monday, and students may access and complete the learning activities at their convenience.  If a week is missed, students may go to the previous week's material - the coursework is not graded in this program.

Will my child need to use technology?

Yes. Blackboard can be accessed on the internet, or students can download the app on a tablet or smartphone as well.

Will my child receive any credit for participation in the summer learning program?

No, this experience is voluntary and intended to provide access to learning opportunities over the summer.
