Kindergarten Screening

Is your child ready for Kindergarten?

Do you have a child who will be five years old prior to December 2, 2024? Find out at Kindergarten Screening (K-Screening), where we help you and your child determine if Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is right for them.

What is K-Screening?

K-Screening measures early development, academic skills, and assesses Kindergarten readiness.
Our team uses the results of the screening to provide you with a recommendation and partner with you as you determine what program is best for your child.

The K-Screening Process

Parents have to log in or create an account with JPS to register with the district.

During registration select the age of your child.

After registration, you will receive an email with available appointments.
PLEASE NOTE: K-Screening is first come first served. If all time slots fill up for the current two days of screening we will still contact you with the next availability.

You and your child show up to your scheduled K-Screening visit.

After meeting the screener, your child will participate in the screening process in a preschool classroom with the screener.

During the screening, parents will complete documentation, watch an informational video, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

The screener will meet with you and your child to review the activities completed in the screening. NOTE: The screener will not discuss results or recommendations at this time.

After screening you will receive an email with a recommendation on Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten. You can set up further discussions with our team or ask any additional questions before confirming placement.
