Group Therapy for Anxiety & Depression
Affordable group therapy is available through Love Your Neighbor on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Therapy is for anyone 18 or older and only costs $5 per session.

Fall Fest at Fair Haven
Fall Fest TRUNK EDITION is an outdoor family event packed with fun! Admission is FREE! Join us for trunk or treating, lots of candy, prizes, inflatables, a petting zoo, free hot chocolate and hotdogs! We will also have food trucks available onsite.

Boy Scout Troop 281 Info Night
Troop 281 is an inclusive group that meets regularly Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm at the Neal Fonger American Legion Post 179  2327 Wilson Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534. Scouts are from multiple school districts and have many interests outside scouts. This Troop is current boy only but are open to expanding to a co-ed troop or adding a Girl's Troop. Come to a meeting and meet the scouts and parents!

Saturday Slip N' Slide
Saturday, august 17, 2024 12-4 pm - Rosewood Park.
A community event with fun for the whole family! Four 20' wide x 100' long slip n slides, outdoor games, foam pit, food vendors, children's activities, sponsor tent, and much more.

Splash Pads

Did you know that Jenison is home to two great splash pads? Kids can choose their own “level of wet’ at either Maplewood Park or Rosewood Park Splash pads.


Trail Maps

Looking for outdoor fun for your family?: There is a new interactive non-motorized trail map which features 4,600 miles of trails. You can also download free apps – “All Trails” for Apple or Google Play and “GR Walks” for Apple or Google Play.


Story Walks
Ottawa County parks offers Story Walks. Walk along the paths with your family and read the picture books posted on signs and look for things to do. Be sure to check the calendar for dates and parks.

Get Your Free Library Card
Your library card gives you access to thousands of items locally and millions of items statewide. It's not just for books! Your library card lets you access items such as museum passes, cake pans, video games, instruments, yard games, and so much more!





Kent District Library LAB Experience (ages 5-10)

TheKDL LAB Experience promotes creativity, problem solving skills and unstructured exploration time for school-age children and teens. Carefully selected learning tools and activities are designed to help students increase their proficiency in STEAM disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Get your questions answered and register at the KDL website.



Play N Learn
What is Play N Learn? It's a free program designed for families with children birth through age five. Infant group is for children birth-24 months. Each session will be based on a children’s book and will include:
  • story 
  • fingerplays 
  • creative art experiences 
  • educational play

Stump the Librarian
If your kids have tough questions, pass them onto “Stump the Librarian.” This KDL podcast is entertaining and educational. Learn a boat load of interesting tidbits!


Free Workshops at Home Depot
On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot hosts free workshops for kids.  9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Registration required on their website.
Kent District Library (KDL) LAB Experience

Help Me Grow Ottawa has offered a free “Talking is Teaching” calendar that offers simple daily interactions that can help boost children’s brain and language development, setting them up for success in school and beyond.

Bowling: Hudsonville Lanes

Hudsonville Lanes is a great place to have fun times with family and friends. At Hudsonville Lanes you can have a great time at prices that won’t break your family’s budget. We have plenty of bumper bowling lanes just for kids! We also have our Glow Bowl on Friday nights, where you bowl with the lights down – great music turned up and awesome special effects lighting.

Rebounderz Adventure Park
Come and try our Trampoline Activities, In-the-Air Dodgeball, 6-Lane Foam Pit, Air-Basketball, and Open Jump Arena. As well as our Ninja Warrior Course (44” and Over) featuring more than 250’ of different obstacles with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Lanes. Conquer the Jump Extreme Tower (44” and Over / 200lbs and Under) Laser Tag, Mini Golf, Mini Escape Rooms or let your little ones enjoy the Tri-Level Playground (54” and Under) and Kangaroo Pillow (44” and Under). JPS Aquatics Swimming
Lap Swim
We ask that patrons check every Sunday for the upcoming lap swim schedule for that week. If you want to pay as you go, you can pay the lifeguard on deck. Residents of Jenison School District or those with current School of Choice kids are $3.00 per swim. Non-Residents of Jenison School District are $4.00 per swim. We offer a one month membership and a six month membership for the price of five months. More info can be found on our Aquatics website.

Flick’s Family Film

Flick’s Family Film offers different kids movies every month. Kids under 12 are FREE and everyone else is just $5. See Celebration's website for more info.

John Ball Zoo

Any Michigan resident who carries a MI Bridges card, including WIC, can attend John Ball Zoo for free with up to 9 free household members through the JUMP program.

Double Up Food Bucks
Use your Bridge or Pandemic EBT at participating Farmers Markets to get tokens to purchase SNAP eligible items. Get an equal amount in FREE Double Up Food Bucks (up to $20/day!) for Michigan grown fruit & vegetables. No registration required!

There are still a few places where kids can eat FREE (or at least discounted) around GR. You’ll have the most weekend options if you dine out on Sunday!

Golden Age Passes
Jenison Golden Age passes can be obtained by anyone 60 years or older who reside within the Jenison Public School District. They are free to those who qualify, and are accepted at any home or away OK Conference athletic event.  Please bring your ID to our Administrative office located at 8375 20th Ave or the High School Athletic Office located at 2140 Bauer Rd during business hours.
