JENISON YOUTH BASKETBALL (JYB) LEAGUE
Who: Jenison Youth Basketball is open to boys 3rd-6th grade and girls 5-6th grade.
What is JYB: We are a community basketball league. Come play basketball and compete for your home elementary school vs other Jenison Elementary’s
When: JYB will start practicing mid to late October. Season will end prior to Christmas break. Games will be on Saturday’s in November and December. More information will be sent after registration.
Where: All practices will be held at student athlete's Jenison Elementary school. All games will be held at Jenison High School.
3RD AND 4TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL
Varsity basketball players led by varsity coaches will teach the game of basketball in a fun and competitive way to 3rd and 4th grade athletes.
Who: 3rd and 4th Grade Girls Where: Jenison High School Kamstra Gym or other district gym
Date(s): Practices will be on Wednesday Jan. 3, Monday Jan. 8, 15, 22, all from 7-8:30pm and games will be played on Saturday mornings, Jan. 13, 20, 27, exact times TBD.
Cost: $55 (includes a t-shirt)
Location: High School Gyms or Elementary Gyms.

Baton Twirling Classes
Come join the fun and learn how to twirl a baton! Baton twirling is making a comeback as the latest and greatest sensation! Don’t miss out on all the fun! Register at the first class on September 28th.
When: Every Thursday from Sept. 28th - Dec. 21st from 7:00PM - 7:45PM.

Story Walks
Ottawa County parks offers Story Walks. Walk along the paths with your family and read the picture books posted on signs and look for things to do. Be sure to check the calendar for dates and parks.

Splash Pads

Did you know that Jenison is home to two great splash pads? Kids can choose their own “level of wet’ at either Maplewood Park or Rosewood Park Splash pads.


Trail Maps

Looking for outdoor fun for your family?: There is a new interactive non-motorized trail map which features 4,600 miles of trails. You can also download free apps – “All Trails” for Apple or Google Play and “GR Walks” for Apple or Google Play.





Food Truck Fridays
Work up an appetite for the food trucks at Riverside Park with a FREE kayak ride. Kayaks and required equipment will be available for 20-minute rides. Fridays, 5 – 8 PM.

Your library card gives you access to thousands of items locally and millions of items statewide. It's not just for books! Your library card lets you access items such as museum passes, cake pans, video games, instruments, yard games, and so much more!


Draw Club

Draw Club offers drawing classes for Ages 7-16.


Kent District Library LAB Experience (ages 5-10)

TheKDL LAB Experience promotes creativity, problem solving skills and unstructured exploration time for school-age children and teens. Carefully selected learning tools and activities are designed to help students increase their proficiency in STEAM disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Get your questions answered and register at the KDL website.



Play N Learn
What is Play N Learn? It's a free program designed for families with children birth through age five. Infant group is for children birth-24 months. Each session will be based on a children’s book and will include:
  • story 
  • fingerplays 
  • creative art experiences 
  • educational play

Stump the Librarian
If your kids have tough questions, pass them onto “Stump the Librarian.” This KDL podcast is entertaining and educational. Learn a boat load of interesting tidbits!


Free Workshops at Home Depot
On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot hosts free workshops for kids.  9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Registration required on their website.

Kids bowl two FREE games daily all summer long at select bowling alleys. Qualifying age varies by location, but there are also discounts for older family members. Get everyone together for some affordable, old-fashioned fun!

Rebounderz Adventure Park
Come and try our Trampoline Activities, In-the-Air Dodgeball, 6-Lane Foam Pit, Air-Basketball, and Open Jump Arena. As well as our Ninja Warrior Course (44” and Over) featuring more than 250’ of different obstacles with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Lanes. JPS Aquatics Swimming
Lap Swim
We ask that patrons check every Sunday for the upcoming lap swim schedule for that week. If you want to pay as you go, you can pay the lifeguard on deck. Residents of Jenison School District or those with current School of Choice kids are $3.00 per swim. Non-Residents of Jenison School District are $4.00 per swim. We offer a one month membership and a six month membership for the price of five months. More info can be found on our Aquatics website.

Flick’s Family Film

Flick’s Family Film offers different kids movies every month. Kids under 12 are FREE and everyone else is just $5. See Celebration's website for more info.

Confluence Festival
Confluence is a multi-dimensional ideas festival that connects the worlds of art, music, science, and tech through shared experiences. Confluence features diverse offerings, including a Music Showcase with leading-edge musicians; a Thought Series with influential thought leaders from across the region; an Innovation Showcase with a focus on gaming and esports; a Maker Expo featuring the area’s DIY community; a STEAM-based adventure land for kids called Future Innovators Zone, and Art@ – a 360° multi-sensory takeover of urban spaces.

John Ball Zoo

Any Michigan resident who carries a MI Bridges card, including WIC, can attend John Ball Zoo for free with up to 9 free household members through the JUMP program.

Golden Age Passes
Jenison Golden Age passes can be obtained by anyone 60 years or older who reside within the Jenison Public School District. They are free to those who qualify, and are accepted at any home or away OK Conference athletic event.  Please bring your ID to our Administrative office located at 8375 20th Ave or the High School Athletic Office located at 2140 Bauer Rd during business hours.
