The dogs and cats at Post Family Farm were the star attractions for the 30 JIA students who visited the farm today! It was the perfect summer morning for day two of JIA’s first ever summer camp and the excursion to Post was a clear highlight of the camp so far. The students also enjoyed a hayride, toured the barns, and played on the expanded playground. Great idea JIA!

Last month, over ten days, 44 soon-to-be 8th and 9th grade Spanish Immersion students used their Spanish every day in Panamá 🇵🇦 and Costa Rica 🇨🇷! Whether learning how to surf, listening to local guides, visiting a Costa Rican school, or connecting with people from different cultures, they experienced firsthand how language creates meaningful connections.

From exploring the Panamá Canal and meeting the Emberá community to rafting the Sarapiquí River, ziplining through the rainforest, snorkeling in the Pacific, and hiking near volcanoes, students gained unforgettable experiences while deepening their cultural understanding and confidence in Spanish.

Welcome back to Jenison, Spanish Immersion students, we can’t wait to hear more about your trip!

The summer vibes were strong this morning for week two of the Jenison Tennis Camp! The new tennis courts, made possible through the support of voters who approved the district’s 2024 bond proposal, looked so sharp for their inaugural summer camp appearance. The elementary students learned a lot from their counselors and yet still found time for air guitars with their rackets and a little dancing. Go Jenison Tennis!

The sixth annual Thespians of Tomorrow Kids Camp took place at the Jenison Center for the Arts last week and was once again a smashing success! High school theater students led workshops for elementary students about singing, acting, dancing, improv, tech, props, makeup, costumes and so much more. We dropped by the workshop practicing “It’s The Hard-Knock Life” dance routine on the big stage and were amazed by the talent displayed. Incredible work Jenison Theater Program! #ReadyToPerform

After a big 5-4 win over West Ottawa on Saturday morning, the Jenison baseball team rallied and took Hudsonville to extra innings before just falling short in the district championship game later that afternoon. A large crowd of Jenison fans made the trip to Holland and went crazy when the team made incredible plays to tie the game and keep it tied. Huge thanks to the 13 seniors who led this team to another successful season. You will be missed!

Last week our Arietta Choir, comprised of 7th grade girls from Jenison Junior High, performed at Waterford Place Retirement Community in Jenison! The residents were hanging on every note and the girls performed so well. There also were a number of outstanding solos throughout the event. At the end, the choir recognized veterans in the crowd by singing each branch of the military’s song. Way to give back to the community, Arietta Choir!
