"Wilderness Academy’s nature-based education reminds us that we’re part of something bigger, grounded in connection to the world around us. Through extended, cohort-based learning, we’ve built a true village where families genuinely support and show up for one another."

"I love a bunch of things about the Wilderness Academy! We are outside a lot and I really enjoy going on field experiences like our visits to the Outdoor Discovery Center."

Letter From The Principal

Portrait of Connor O'Connel

I’m honored to serve as the Principal at Wilderness Academy and to be part of a district that lives out the Wildcat Way in modeling integrity, respect, responsibility, trust, honesty, and empathy in all we do.

Since joining Jenison Public Schools in 2025, I’m excited to help students discover, grow, and learn in partnership with families, exploring new ways to connect with the world around them.

At Wilderness Academy, we are committed to building a strong sense of belonging for every student, staff member, and family. We empower every student to succeed through collaboration, character development, and a focus on both academic and personal growth.

Mr. Connor O’Connell
Principal
