Last night seniors on the Jenison Girls Swim and Dive team recognized the most influential teachers from their high school years for their Teacher Appreciation Night.

Before their swim meet against Forest Hills Central, they introduced the teachers to the crowd gathered at the Jenison High School Aquatic Center. 

Coach Kyle Stumpf said the event is always inspiring.

“I love to read how our teachers are role models, spread positivity, and encourage the girls to be the best version of themselves,” he said.

Eden selected Mrs. Huizenga, a former math teacher at Jenison, because she made sure that all her students had the help they needed in her math class and always had positive energy. 

Kylie chose Mr. Johnson, a physical education teacher, because he is someone she looks up to and is grateful to have as a coach, teacher, and role model in her life. 

Tealor selected Mr. Zuber, a science teacher, because he helped her realize she wants to pursue a career in the science field. 

Molly picked Mrs. Westveer, a chemistry teacher, because she believed in her even when she didn’t believe in herself.

Adelynn chose Mrs. Kossen, a physical education teacher, because she is always supportive, encouraging, and gets to know students. 

Emma selected Mrs. Zuber, a science teacher, because she is an incredible teacher who helped her decide to pursue something in scientific research for college.

Kendal picked Mrs. Brown, an English teacher, because she is an amazing teacher to talk to, has the best positive energy, always wants people to succeed no matter what, and will try to help everyone succeed. 

Riley chose Mrs. Remley, a Spanish teacher, because not only is she an amazing teacher but she is also a very caring and supportive person. 

The team finished the night with a 112-69 victory over Forest Hill Central.
