Kyle Cain at retirement home

Kyle Cain, choir director at Jenison Junior High School, was recently named the conductor of the 7-8-9 TTB State Honors Choir.

He was selected by his peers to conduct the 7-8-9 TTB State Honors Choir at the Michigan Music Conference in January. It includes students who sing tenor or bass in grades 7, 8, or 9, and it is most similar to the Male Chorus group here in Jenison, Cain said.

Students from across the state sent in audition videos this fall, and were selected to be a part of this choir. The choir spends three full Saturdays between November and January traveling to different sites across Michigan and rehearsing together for the performance in January.

Cain said they will perform on Thursday, January 22nd at 6 p.m. in the DeVos Performance Hall in downtown Grand Rapids.

"It's a huge honor to be selected to work with highly motivated students from across the state of Michigan,” he said. “I am grateful for the encouragement and support of my fellow music colleagues here in Jenison, and all the students that continue to inspire me each day!"
