Despite having no home pool this season due to renovations and a reduced practice schedule, the Jenison Girls Swim and Dive team tied for the highest finish in program history at states.
The team practiced and competed all over West Michigan before finishing its season at the state competition at Oakland University.
Coach Kyle Stumpf said he appreciated the flexibility, encouragement, support and positive attitudes that both students and parents displayed all season.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to coach this program with an awesome coaching staff and incredibly supportive parent community," he wrote in email to parents.
The team finished second overall in Division I and has achieved state runner-up status three of the last four years (the first year being Division II and the last three years being Division I).
Stumpf said the girls earned 12 All-State honors, four All-American times, and one individual state championship in the 100 Butterfly. The team scored the most points at a state meet in school history as well with 249 points.
"It was a terrific two days of swimming and diving from these ladies," he wrote.
