Yesterday Liz Hoffman's second grade class at Rosewood Elementary carried on their annual tradition of writing thank you notes to Grandpa Bob, their classroom volunteer who is a Vietnam veteran.
He had grandchildren attend Rosewood and has volunteered there on Thursdays and Fridays for the past 16 years.
Grandpa Bob helps the kids with math year-round and also does gardening with them in the spring.
The second graders created the thank you notes as they learned about the history of Veteran's Day.
Hoffman said they will share the cards with Grandpa Bob on Thursday morning when he arrives to volunteer.
"He loves them," Hoffman said about the notes. "I think he saves every one of them."
