group of school administrators with text that says: Thank you Jenison & Hudsonville for supporting love your neighbor: rivals on the field, united at the table

October 28, 2025

This Friday night, the long-standing football rivalry between Jenison and Hudsonville will extend beyond the scoreboard as both communities come together to tackle hunger.

As Jenison faces Hudsonville in the first round of the MHSAA football playoffs on Friday, October 31, the two districts are partnering for a Community Food Drive to benefit Love Your Neighbor, a local nonprofit serving families across the area who are experiencing food insecurity.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Hudsonville High School Stadium, and fans from both schools are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to the game. A large donation truck will be set up just outside the stadium entrance, where contributions can be dropped off before heading to the game.

“This is one of those special moments where school pride meets community purpose,” said Dr. Brandon Graham, Superintendent of Jenison Public Schools. “We may be rivals on the field, but we’re united in caring for our neighbors.”

The food drive comes at a critical time, as local pantries prepare for the holidays and families' rising needs. Donations will go directly to Love Your Neighbor’s food support programs, which serve hundreds of families throughout the greater Hudsonville/Jenison area.

Items most needed include:

  • Pasta & sauces

  • Mac & cheese

  • Rice

  • Refried beans & tortillas

  • Canned chicken, tuna, soup, vegetables, and fruit

  • Pancake mix & syrup

  • Boxed cereal & oatmeal

  • Peanut butter & jelly

Whether you’re cheering in green or blue, fans from both sides are invited to show up with generosity and school spirit. Together, Jenison and Hudsonville can fill the truck and make a difference.
