Meal Prices are coming back for the 2025–26 School Year
JPS is re-establishing meal prices beginning October 1, 2025.
All students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch through September 30, 2025. In recent school years, the State of Michigan has funded universal free meals through the state budget, allowing districts like JPS to provide breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost.
Because the state legislature has not yet finalized the state budget, the future of the state's universal free meal program is still uncertain. To make sure our schools are prepared, JPS is taking action now by re-establishing meal prices beginning October 1, 2025. This ensures we can continue meal service without interruption while we wait for the state budget.
Breakfast (Grades K–12): $2.00
Elementary Lunch: $3.00
Secondary Lunch: $3.50
Reduced-Price Meal Benefit: Students who qualify will continue to eat at no charge.
GSRP - Meals will continue to be covered under GSRP. Parents will not be expected to pay; however, we do encourage you to complete the Free & Reduced Meal Application if you have school-aged children.
Take Action: Complete the Free & Reduced Meal Application
The most important step you can take right now is to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application—even if you’re not sure you qualify.
Filling out the application:
Ensures families who need extra support can access it.
May qualify your household for discounts on athletics, technology, testing, and internet access.
Protects against missed benefits, including Summer EBT benefits (anticipated for Summer 2026).
Completing the form is the safest way to make sure no family misses out.
