Kyle Stumpf coaching

The Michigan High School Coaches Association (MHSCA), the professional organization of school coaches and athletic directors, announced that Jenison's Kyle Stumpf has been selected as the Girls Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year.

Stumpf will receive the award in November at the MHSCA State Awards Luncheon in Midland, Michigan.

Coach of the Year selections have been based on the performance of their program over the years and/or their contribution to the sport, school, and community, according to a release from MHSCA.

Stumpf said he is blessed to teach and coach in a district like Jenison.

"The support from the team, community, coaching staff and administration is incredible.  The team was an amazing one last year and their hard work paid off in a conference title and state runner-up finish," he said. "Our coaching staff of Caroline Clement, Anna Lockwood, Taylor Arnold and Brian Zuehlke are rockstars who push the girls to get better everyday."

Class of 2025 Graduate Sophia Umstead, a current swimmer at the University of Virginia, said Stumpf has been an amazing coach to her over the years.

"He really is inspirational to everyone, the whole team. He encourages us to work our hardest and be our best no matter what," he said. "I am really grateful that I got to work with him."
