Jenison High School Counselor Jenny Riha and Teacher Tracy Mossburger were both selected as recipients of the 2025 Yale Educator Award.
Sponsored by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the award recognizes educators from around the world who inspire and support their students to perform at high levels and to achieve excellence, according to a news release.
Incoming students were invited to nominate high school educators and a committee of Yale admissions officers reviewed the nominees. There were 61 teachers and 26 counselors selected to receive the award.
Riha and Mossburger were nominated by Bomin Koo, Jenison Class of 2025 valedictorian, now a freshman at Yale.
"The entire admissions office credits the excellent quality of this year's first-year class to teachers like you who have been shaping our students long before they arrive at Yale," Yale Admission Directors Mark Dunn and Amelia Lake shared in a letter. "We thank you for your ongoing efforts and hope that Yale will do as well as you have in supporting and inspiring your students."
