Distance Learning Courses (DLCs)
JIA works with strategic partner schools and agencies to plan, develop, implement, and oversee international projects and programs. Each is tailored to an individual partnership, creating a learning program specific to the school and the needs of students and staff.
Online courses delivered to JIA partner schools in China are referred to as Distance Learning Courses (DLCs). These courses are prepared and taught by JIA teachers, with comprehensive support provided onsite by the partner school. Each participating Chinese school builds the DLC into their school day, assigning an Assisting Coordinator to support the students within the classroom. JIA ensures quality assurance through training of the Assisting Coordinator, providing initial technology instruction with the purpose of utilizing the Jenison Blackboard Platform, along with weekly virtual meetings to review lesson plans and student coursework.
DLC students in China
DLC students in China who successfully complete each course are eligible to earn credit through JIA, if electing to physically attend Jenison High School in the future. All who enroll spend two (2) evenings each week in live, virtual sessions with the JIA teacher, flipping the instruction for the school day and working with the Assisting Coordinator. Due to the time difference, JIA teachers instruct very early in the morning to accommodate each partnering school.
