Jenison International Academy is currently accepting applications for the 2017 - 2018 school year.
Seats are available for grades K - 12. Students must reside in one of the following Michigan counties: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Ottawa. Please contact our office for availability.
Full Time Enrollment in JIA
Students participating in the program will carry 6 courses each semester, and have the option to take 100% of their courses online or create a schedule combination of online and on-campus courses at Jenison Public Schools, which may also include Tech Center, Dual Enrollment, and other eligible programs. Applicants who are entering high school must review the JIA Graduation Requirements prior to beginning Step #1 of the enrollment process.
Student Application Process
STEP 1: Online Preparation
Each applicant must complete the Online Readiness Survey, including the “Application Essay” at the end of the survey. Please allow 10-15 minutes for this process.
STEP 2: Submit Forms & Documentation
By completing the online or paper copy of the Application, applicants are fulfilling the JIA Seat-Time Waiver Application and District-Required Documentation.
In order to be eligible for enrollment at Jenison International Academy, high school students must be less than 20 years old by September 1, 2017, a resident of the State of Michigan, and have the following minimum credit requirements when transferring into each grade level:
10th grade: 5 Semester Credits
11th grade: 10 Semester Credits
12th grade: 16 Semester Credits
Using the link provided, any parent or guardian may complete an enrollment application electronically.
At the time of enrollment, you will need to provide us with the following documents. You can either upload as part of the online registration process or bring them to the JIA Offices where we can make a photocopy for our records.
Other Required Documentation for Enrollment
- Proof of Residency (photocopy of utility bill, house buy/sell agreement, or rental agreement)
- Photocopy of your Child's Original Birth Certificate*
- Up-to-Date Immunization Record
- Letter of Recommendation (Please see Step 3, below.)
- High School Transcript (if applying for grades 10, 11 or 12)
- Additional Documents if Applicable (Special Education Services, IEP, Court Documents, etc)
*Please Note: The birth certificate must be a certified copy, not the hospital certificate that shows the child's footprints. If you don't have a certified birth certificate, you may order one from the County Clerk's Office in the county where your child was born. STEP 3: Student Recommendation
Download and print the Student Recommendation Form for a non-family member to complete and send to JIA offices.
An email will be sent to the parent or guardian email account when a completed application has been received. Upon review and approval, a welcome message and course selection email will be issued to the same address.
