WELCOME TO THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR!

Welcome to Jenison

Whether you are with us for the first time or have been with us for years, we are thrilled to have your children attend what we believe is one of the best school districts in the state of Michigan. Although we have earned many accolades over the past many years, we are not a district that rests on its laurels. All of us are working diligently to make sure our district continues to provide the best possible educational programming for your children.

I am convinced that the 2010-2011 school year is going to be fantastic. Our building principals, teachers, and paraprofessionals are primed and ready to meet the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of each and every student who will be attending Jenison Public Schools. We are committed to build meaningful relationships with every child so that we will be able to instill the knowledge that he or she needs to be successful in life.

We also need your support and participation if we are going to make this a great year. I realize it is a busy and expansive world and your time is at a premium. However, I can’t emphasize enough how important your willingness to “build a bridge” with your children’s school is to their level of success. We want to be partners with you in providing the best educational experience we can for your children. We value and appreciate your input and support. With today’s technology, we are only a telephone call or e-mail away, so please stay connected. Secondary parents are highly encouraged to make use of PowerSchool Parent. You will find this to be an outstanding tool for keeping track of your children’s progress in their various classes, as well as providing a link for communication with their teachers. There is no question in  my mind that with all of us working together, we will have an outstanding year!

With warmest regards,

Tom TenBrink
Superintendent

Powerschool

ImageJenison Public Schools is proud to announce the implementation of the parent access portion of our Powerschool Student Information System. Powerschool is a web based student information system that allows parents access to attendance and grade information about their student.  We are using the parent access portion of Powerschool at the secondary (grades 7-12) level only.

To assist parents, a JPS PowerSchool Parent Guide (Acrobat Reader PDF, 964K) has been posted.

Atomic Learning At Home

AL Jenison Public Schools has a subscription with Atomic Learning that enables staff, students, and families of JPS students to participate in web-based software training for dozens of applications. The training is delivered via short (one to three minute), easy-to-understand movies. Their library of movies numbers in the thousands, with tips and training on such software titles as Inspiration, Word, Excel, Appleworks, Powerpoint, iMovie and many more. Atomic Learning video tutorials can be accessed directly from within the school district or via password from other locations. Check with your building media center if you would like access.
